About Scipreneurs

Why this website

Scipreneurs have a critical role in translating basic science to tools that have a broader impact.

The aim of this website is to be a repository of actionable information that can support the creation of science-based businesses.

For whom

Although the target audience are those scientists who will create companies (most likely PhD's and Postdocs), we believe that a broader audience can benefit from joining the discussion.

Academic Founders, such as professors, can support the tech transfer process if they are acquainted with it. Incubators and Knowledge Transfer Officers can leverage the discussions on these articles to improve their services and offerings.

The objective

The objective of this website is to become a focal point of discussion, information sharing, and community building.

Scipreneurs can greatly benefit from role-models, mentors, and an overall support network. Realities change quickly from industry to industry and from geography to geography. We are always on the lookout for new members who can contribute expertise.

Who is behind Scipreneurs

Aquiles Carattino is a physicist and entrepreneur. After his PhD he founded Dispertech, a deep-tech company commercializing analytical instruments for researchers. He also started Python for the Lab, a training service, book, and website to help scientists who need to develop instrumentation software.

Aquiles has always been intrigued by the tech-transfer process, product development cycles, and best practices for company building. Scipreneurs is his attempt at sharing knowledge and improving processes that benefit everyone involved.
